Verizon teaches your admin the portal. We are the admin.

Verizon Business Digital Voice comes with a welcome call on logging into the admin portal, and advice to keep a backup administrator for urgent changes. We do that work: the call flow, the greetings, the phones and the AI receptionist, fitted to how you answer.

Facts about Verizon Business checked in October 2026, from their published pages and public records; third-party estimates are labelled. Every claim links to its source.

Fit

Who each is for

Verizon

A business already on Fios that has an administrator on staff to run the portal, and is ready for a 2-year term.

SLINC

Businesses that want the system fitted to how they answer the phone, at each location, and one firm accountable for the phones and the network under them, on any circuit.

Side by side

Verizon and SLINC, row by row.

Advertised price

Verizon

“Up to 99 VoIP lines $20-$35/mo/line”: with a Fios bundle, $20 for the first line and $25 for each additional line; $35 a line without Fios. [1]

SLINC

We don’t publish a price. We write one monthly agreement for your office after the walk-through.

What sits on top

Verizon

“$99.99 activation and $200 installation fees apply.” “Additional charges apply for inside wiring and/or other installation services.” [1]

SLINC

One monthly agreement, written for your office after the walk-through. Ask to see every line of the written proposal before you sign.

Phones

Verizon

“Phone equipment purchase req’d, starting at $85.00.” And: “we do not allow customers to bring their own VoIP equipment.” [1]

SLINC

Yealink desk phones configured for each person: keys, labels and sidecars, built and test-called before cutover. Standard SIP phones you already own can often stay.

Who builds the call flow

Verizon

Your administrator, who “can set up call routing features, like an Auto attendant or Hunt Group, for the entire business.” [2]

SLINC

We do, with you, per location: the routes, the hours and holidays, and what happens when nobody can pick up. In writing, approved by you.

Who fixes the network

Verizon

Verizon provides the circuit. Business Digital Voice “requires an existing Internet connection of 5Mbps or higher.” [1]

SLINC

We do. The firewall, switches and Wi-Fi run under the same agreement, on Fios or whichever circuit you choose.

AI receptionist

Verizon

The phone feature is an “Auto Attendant: A virtual receptionist that helps customers self-select who they need to talk to.” The page makes no AI receptionist claim for Business Digital Voice. [1]

SLINC

Built in-house on the newest realtime voice models and written into your call flow. It answers in your business name from a script we write with you, and warm-transfers urgent callers only after the person says yes.

Contract and exit

Verizon

“2 year contract required.” Early termination: “35% of base monthly charges for unexpired term.” The term “automatically renews at then-current term rates unless canceled within 30 days prior to or 60 days after the term is renewed.” [1]

SLINC

Written into your agreement before you sign. Ask for a copy at the walk-through.

Changes after go-live

Verizon

You and your users, online: features are managed “through My Account for both your entire business and individual users,” and each user manages their own “through the My Phone site.” [1]

SLINC

A call or an email in plain English. We make the change and confirm it back.

The setup

The setup: who does the work.

Verizon’s onboarding teaches your administrator the portal. With us, there is no portal to learn.

What Verizon asks of you

  • A “short, 30-minute” welcome call covering “Logging into your admin portal” and “Giving end users portal access to manage their own features.” [3]
  • Build the routing with Verizon’s team on that call: “Set up call routing and group features, such as forwarding, hunt groups, auto attendants,” then keep running it from the admin portal. [3]
  • Keep a spare administrator: “Make sure to have more than one admin. You’ll need a backup when one is unavailable and you need immediate configuration changes, emergency closures, etc.” [4]
  • Manage features “through My Account for both your entire business and individual users.” [1]

What we do instead

  • We walk each location with you and learn how your calls actually move.
  • We write the design: the call flow, hours and holidays, every desk’s keys and the AI receptionist’s script, for you to approve.
  • We build and label every phone and test the AI receptionist on a test line, to our written standard.
  • We cut over after you close: numbers ported, every route walked, every seat test-called.
  • We run it under one monthly agreement. Changes are a call or an email; we make them and confirm back.

The network

When calls break up.

“BDV requires an existing Internet connection of 5Mbps or higher.”

The circuit is only the start. We run the firewall, switches and Wi-Fi under the same agreement, on Fios or whichever circuit you choose, so choppy calls are ours to trace and fix.

Terms

The fine print

What Verizon’s own terms and pricing pages say.

  • “$99.99 activation and $200 installation fees apply. Additional charges apply for inside wiring and/or other installation services.” [1]
  • “Phone equipment purchase req’d, starting at $85.00.” [1]
  • “At this time, we do not allow customers to bring their own VoIP equipment.” [1]
  • “Early termination fees for a 2 year contract: 35% of base monthly charges for unexpired term. 2 year term automatically renews at then-current term rates unless canceled within 30 days prior to or 60 days after the term is renewed.” [1]
  • “Credit-card, alarm, fire, elevator or security lines are not supported on Business Digital Voice. You can purchase an additional copper telephone line for these purposes.” [1]

Fair is fair

Where Verizon is stronger

Honest answers build trust, so here is where they win.

  • Verizon owns the Fios network and a national brand, and sells the line and the circuit together. [1]
  • One Talk: “Extend your business number across devices with our simple and flexible business communication solution.” [5]

Ask us

Alarm, fax and other copper lines.

Verizon says Business Digital Voice does not support alarm, credit-card, fire or elevator lines. [Verizon Business Digital Voice] If you have them, list them at the walk-through and we will lay out the options for each line.

Switching

Switching from Verizon

Your numbers come with you, and your Fios internet can stay. We time the port around your Verizon term and cut over after you close.

Auto body

After-hours tow requests, connected.

Situation
An auto body shop’s after-hours calls went to voicemail, including tow requests that could not wait until morning.
What we found
The urgent after-hours call was always the same: a tow. Everything else could wait for a message.
What we fitted
Its AI receptionist answers in the shop’s name after hours, warm-transfers tow requests to the tow company, and texts the owner a summary with the recording a tap away.

Questions

Verizon or SLINC: questions.

Can I keep Fios internet and switch my phones to you?
Yes. Your phones and the network inside the building run on whichever circuit you keep. We set the firewall, switches and Wi-Fi for voice on top of it.
Can I bring my own phones?
Verizon says it does not allow customers to bring their own VoIP equipment. To us, often yes, if they are standard SIP phones. Tell us the models and we check.
What about my 2-year Verizon term?
Verizon’s early termination fee is 35% of base monthly charges for the unexpired term, and the term renews unless canceled in a window around the renewal date. Bring the agreement to the walk-through and we time the port and the cutover around it.
Who records the greetings?
We write them with you and set them up, along with the hours, the holidays and the AI receptionist’s script. Need one changed later? A call or an email, and we make it.
